Tammy Ulander

Tammy Ulander is a Personal Trainer and massage therapist. She has a passion for working out. Tammy is a competitive bodybuilder who just began competing 3 years ago at age 47. Tammy just began some weight resistance training at age 42 after having a body scan that revealed her left pelvis was osteopenic. That is the condition just before osteoporosis. Tammy did not want to take the medication that her physician recommended due to the serious side effects. However, being at high risk for osteoporosis, she searched for alternatives. The physician told her that taking some calcium and doing some weight bearing exercise may help. She went to the gym right away and worked with a trainer to learn how to train with weights as she had never done that. Tammy said 2 lb weights made her biceps very sore because she was not accustom to working out like this. She had only done aerobic exercises most of her life, like running, skiing, biking, etc. But, she stuck with it and on the follow-up dexa scan the following year, her hip was normal. She was immediately a believer in the benefits of weight- bearing exercise and wanted to do what she could to help others. Over a couple of years, the workouts changed the appearance of her body and she began doing some light weight and masters competitions in bodybuilding. Tammy enjoys helping others in setting and achieving their goals.
